Senior Estimator

In this regard, we are currently seeking a qualified candidate for the role of Senior Estimator. Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, the role involves meticulous examination of contract documents, the preparation of detailed estimates, leadership in the preparation of tenders/bids for multiple contract types, and fostering relationships with our industry partners. 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Source and identify tendering opportunities.
  • Evaluate potential pursuit opportunities and present them to the Vice President.
  • Thoroughly assess and appraise tender forms, securing essential documentation such as bonds and insurance for the bid submission.
  • Upload tender documentation for trade partner access onto Laurin’s website.
  • Dispatch invitations to bid to trade partners.
  • Execute all requisite material take-offs and integrate them into the estimate.
  • Prepare Class D, C, B, and A budgets and interact with clients.
  • Manage the bid/tender closing process in collaboration with the Project Management team.
  • Conduct a comprehensive post-tender review.
  • Work diligently with the operations team on the transition of successful bids/tenders highlighting risks and opportunities.

Skills

  • +10 years of pertinent expertise in estimating within the ICI sector. Additional experience in residential high-rise/multi-unit projects is an asset.
  • Possess a profound understanding of the Calgary region market, coupled with a capability to elicit interest from trades and establish robust professional connections.
  • Hold a University Degree or College Diploma in Construction Engineering or Management or an equivalent combination of academic qualification and substantial industry know-how.
  • Exhibit proficient written and oral communication abilities.
  • Strong computer skills, particularly with Excel, PlanSwift, Bluebeam and Autodesk BIM.

Professional Designations

  • CET, P.Eng., MBA, CEC/PQS, Gold Seal
Salary
  • $95,000 – $120,000
