DENNIS LAURIN

FOUNDER AND CHAIRMAN

Dennis is a builder and entrepreneur. After completing high school, he received industry training at St. Lawrence and Algonquin Colleges, followed by additional professional studies at Dalhousie University. In 1985, Dennis founded LAURIN and has since guided the company’s evolution from a heritage renovation firm to an organization that has constructed millions of square feet of commercial buildings and hundreds of residential apartment units.

Alongside his entrepreneurial endeavors, Dennis balances a dynamic career with personal passions. He enjoys motorsports, specifically through the maintenance and restoration of vintage cars. Dennis is also a committed supporter of various philanthropic causes. Dennis was the recipient of a Governor General’s Commendation, as well as an Ontario Provincial Police.

Travis Grimes

PRESIDENT

As the President of LAURIN, Travis leads the company’s strategic direction and overall operations, ensuring that LAURIN continues to set new standards in construction project delivery. His leadership is rooted in a deep understanding of the construction industry, a passion for building strong teams, and a commitment to delivering exceptional results for clients.

Travis began his career in construction as a labourer working for his family’s roofing company during the summers, where he developed a deep respect for the trades and recognized the skill, dedication, and craftsmanship that bring projects to life. Before becoming CEO, he held various leadership roles, overseeing engineering, design, procurement, construction, and real estate development. With over 20 years of experience, he has successfully led large-scale projects, driven strategic growth, and managed significant capital investments across Canada and internationally.

Recognized as a dynamic leader in the industry, Travis is a strong advocate for innovation and operational excellence. His ability to navigate market challenges and embrace new technologies ensures that LAURIN remains at the forefront of the construction industry, continuously delivering high-quality, purpose-built solutions.

Travis is a dedicated mentor and industry advocate, committed to developing the next generation of construction professionals. He fosters a culture where collaboration, craftsmanship, and continuous improvement drive success. JIM WALKER

VICE PRESIDENT, CONSTRUCTION

Starting his career in a family-owned general contracting business before advancing to some of Canada’s largest builders, Jim has developed a diverse and specialized skill set, allowing him to leverage the right tools to tackle project challenges of any scale, whether contractual or technically complex. With experience leading teams that adapt to diverse client needs and assembling high-performing teams tailored to evolving construction markets, Jim brings strategic leadership and deep industry insight to every project.

Jim has played a pivotal role in delivering some of the most technically complex projects in Canada over the past 20 years. His expertise has helped shape the skylines of Canadian cities, contributing to innovative and iconic structures that define our built environment and pave the way for the future. He is well-versed in all project delivery models, including Construction Management, Design-Build, Stipulated Lump Sum, as well as newer approaches such as Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) and alliance contracts. Additionally, Jim serves as a board member of the Integrated Project Delivery Alliance of Canada.

Jim focuses on aligning project objectives to deliver the best outcomes for clients, consultants, and subtrades. His dedication to quality and efficiency has earned him a strong reputation in the Canadian construction industry as a reliable and forward-thinking professional. With a proactive approach, Jim ensures that every project is executed to the highest standards, consistently driving successful results.

Maryanne Hemmerich

Director, Administration

As the Director of Administration at LAURIN, Maryanne leads the Finance and Administration department, providing strategic leadership in financial management and operational efficiency. Known for her reliability, accountability, and dedication, she is the go-to leader for driving efficiency and innovation. Maryanne ensures the company remains competitive by implementing cutting-edge IT and finance processes while continuously enhancing operational effectiveness.

Maryanne began her career in Montreal’s garment industry, building a strong foundation in accounting before transitioning to the construction sector. After moving to Ottawa over 24 years ago, she joined LAURIN as an Accounts Payable Clerk. Through expertise, leadership, and dedication, she advanced into key financial and administrative roles, growing alongside the company.

A steadfast advocate for employee well-being, Maryanne plays a critical role in fostering a positive workplace culture. She leads key company initiatives, including holiday celebrations, employee recognition programs, and team-building activities, ensuring an engaged and motivated workforce. Her commitment to both operational excellence and team development continues to be instrumental in LAURIN’s success.
