We built the foundation for our success at Lansdowne long before we ever set foot on site.
The redevelopment of Lansdowne Park stands as one of Ottawa’s most prominent and transformative urban revitalization projects, and LAURIN is proud to have played a central role in its delivery. Completed in 2015, our scope for the Shops and Offices at Lansdowne included the simultaneous renovation and fit-up of multiple interrelated components: the existing arena, south stands, OSEG office complex, heritage base buildings, and associated retail and tenant spaces.
This multifaceted project was both technically demanding and logistically complex, requiring careful coordination across disciplines and trades. The work involved extensive demolition and abatement, masonry and structural steel upgrades, seismic reinforcement, particularly to heritage-designated structures, as well as the integration of architectural metals, granite, and modern glass finishes. The balance between preserving historical integrity and introducing contemporary design elements demonstrated our expertise in heritage conservation, environmental sensitivity, and modern construction methodologies.
Equally significant was our work on the centralized heating plant, which featured high-efficiency gas-fired steam boilers, advanced control systems, and campus-wide energy management infrastructure, supporting sustainable operations across the broader Lansdowne site.
Navigating a high-profile, public-facing environment with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities further reinforced our strength in stakeholder collaboration and complex project delivery. For LAURIN, participating in the revitalization of Lansdowne Park wasn’t just another project, it was a privilege to contribute to a defining civic destination in the heart of Ottawa.
