Project Overview

Laurin was constructor to the Medical Council of Canada Head Office.  The MCC is a magnificent building of uncommon beauty and functionality and constructed for the Council to administer the testing and education of academic standards to the medical profession in Canada.

It is a four level concrete structure with finished in Curtain Wall, Cement Board, Phenolic Panels and Architectural metal.  It was a core objective for MCC that “the building reflect their perspective of the world and work undertaken in this space.”  True to the design intent, the building is wonderfully open and encourages collaboration with its users where an abundance of light, gardens, fitness and wellbeing rooms work to deliver to that goal.  There is beauty, functionality and light throughout. A magnificent central staircase welcomes users through the four levels of the building where it serves as the route in bringing colleagues together while enjoying the warmth architectural drama of a 40m long skylight.  The HVAC systems, Electrical design, generator, Building Automation Systems and technology backbone for document control are leading edge in comfort and energy efficiency.
